ON DISPLAY IN LOS ANGELES: TOM OF FINLAND & JONATHAN HOROWITZ
HENZEL STUDIO is pleased to announce the display of three limited edition, dye-injected rugs created in collaboration with Tom of Finland Foundation.
Now on view at CULTUREEDIT’s new exhibition space in Los Angeles.
The rugs feature unique collages by Joakim Andreasson and are inspired by the numerous collage works that can be found at TOM House; covering entire pieces of furniture, in nooks on walls and ceilings, and even on the rear end of their vintage car. The featured collages are composed of proof prints from vintage Tom of Finland books published by the Foundation in the 80’s, pages from original PHYSIQUE PICTORIAL magazines from the 60’s-70’s and other printed material accumulated over the past thirty years. The dense works illustrate the vast styles and techniques of the artist, and offer a visually stunning and unfiltered insight into Tom of Finland’s work.

JONATHAN HOROWITZ
In parallel with the display of Tom of Finland rugs, Jonathan Horowitz’s rug for Henzel Studio titled Rainbow Cross For Two is on view. This rug was recently featured in Architectural Digest as part of a feature on Horowitz’s and Pruitt’s Palm Springs home.
- Gay people haven’t fared too well over the millennia at the hands of organized religion, or at the hands of hardly any group, for that matter. I see the double cross as a broad, open symbol. You can think of other pairings as well.
